1.LEP: Nearly done just wanting to update and revisit a few areas and make this a living and breathing document we can use here at Leschi. 2.Set up Journal: Two entries down, and loads of material for the next one! I am in a great place to absorb and take on new opportunities.
3.Set up Log (& Diverse Populations Log): Log is done, still working out which hours and experiences I will log for the diverse population log. 4.Platform for Educational Belief Paper- in the dropbox but I will be revisiting a few times this year to update. 5.Pre Self Inventory w/ Supervising Principal (& Online): Sent off, but I will again be looking for another opportunity to reflect on where I am now. 6.Calendar- Outlook is my best friend. Seeking out some experiences so that I can log some days as an administrator. 7.Begin Internship NOW- Loving these long days where the work is right and coffee is flowing! It's all about our kids!
1. LEP - under way, strong start 2. Set-up Journal - done and journaling the 1st and 15th of each month 3. Set-up Log - done and logging hours, need to code to standards 4. Platform for Educational Belief Paper - rough outline 5. Pre-self Inventory - done, need to do online entry 6. Calendar - Google calendar in use 7. Begin Internship Now - under way!!
I completed the Pre-Self Inventory at the end of last school year. It left me feeling like I had a lot to learn! I started the summer by making a "to do" list that included dates and people I am collaborating with. This really helped keep me focused during the summer and got me thinking about projects for each standard. Over the summer, I worked on the educational beliefs paper. I have 3 versions to date:) I'm thinking Baxter's class will help me either merge my ideas or help me pick the one that I was the most articulate with. I am using a log from a previous intern (thanks, Lori Cottle!). I have to keep reminding myself to fill it in daily or else I forget. I am wondering if I am selecting the correct categories/standards for things I am involved in, but I'm thinking I will get more familiar with it or I just need to look at some other examples. I've completed two journal entries and this has been a great reflection activity. I have an idea for the LEP (comparing my school to another four time Achievement Award winning school) and I have questions drafted. I am just waiting to make contact with the principal there, who is new, so I have it in my calendar to call in two weeks. The internship definitely began August 1st!
1. It is a work in progress, my principal just added an attendance piece he'd like me to work on. 2. Sent two 3. It's set up and current as of 9/5 (I'm working in updating it a few times a week, so it stays fresh in my mind. Not sure if all my categories are correct, just doing the best I can.) 4. Rough draft- done. I used it to help me when I spoke to my staff about my internship and what I stand for as an administrator. 5. Completed in June 6. iCloud and Google... 7. Started and working!
LEP - The LEP will be a living document throughout this year. I have placed some basic pieces of information in the document that was accessible prior to stepping into the building (i.e. demographic data, attendance data, testing score data, mapping, and number of students/teachers . Considering I am new to the district, school, position, and community, I will need to continually add information as I am learning. A PTA meeting is set for next week and will give me more insight into another piece of Nelson Elementary.
Set up Journal - My journal is set up and I have completed 2 reflections. I believe it would help me to write a paragraph or two each evening to capture the constant reflective process I am going through. While there is no way to capture the amount of reflection I do on the way to school, during school, and after school, the daily practice will help even if it captures some small nuggets of valuable information.
Set up Log (& Diverse Populations Log) - My log is set up thanks to Gould. I make sure to add my hours daily and attempt to record where the hours would align to the standards. I have also linked my titles in the log to the materials and resources created for parents, students, staff, district, etc.
Platform for Educational Belief Paper - I am continually working on this paper. Right now it is in pieces: bullets, paragraphs, graphics, etc.
Pre Self Inventory w/ Supervising Principal (& Online) - I completed this with my principal in August.
Calendar - Google Calendar
Begin Internship NOW - Indeed I have started my internship and embracing every opportunity given to me while already setting up systems for work/life balance. I can't wait to hear how others are developing their systems of work/life balance.
