Your Checklist to complete before our Seminar:

1.       You should have completed and submitted 3 Journal Entries to Dr. Malone and your University Supervisor following the protocol in the handbook.  These are private and not saved in DropBox.  Your University Supervisor will give you feedback after each submission.  These are due around the 1st & 15th of each month.

2.       You should have updated your log weekly and sent it to your University Supervisor and saved it on DropBox. Your University Supervisor will give you feedback.

3.       You should be updating your Diverse Populations Log weekly and save a copy on Dropbox following the example in your handbook.  A hard copy will also be included in your collection of evidence notebook in May.

4.       You should have scheduled 2 site visits with your principal and your University Supervisor both to occur at your site prior to 12/15.  These visits may include observing you in action as an intern.

5.       Your LEP should be substantially complete following the guidelines and rubric in the handbook. The Final product is saved in your DropBox.  Your University Supervisor will grade this using the rubric in your handbook. A hard copy will also be included in your collection of evidence notebook in May.

6.       You should have completed the electronic version of the Standards Self-Assessment and a copy of the results should be saved in your DropboxA hard copy will also be included in your collection of evidence notebook in May.

7.       Your Educational Beliefs paper should be complete and your first draft should be saved on your Dropbox.  A hard copy will also be included in your collection of evidence notebook in May.

8.       You should have discussed your first two standards project ideas with your principal and your university supervisor; your goal will be to complete 3 of 6 by 12/15.

I'm excited to host the first seminar of the year! Our meeting will be in the library right off the courtyard. A map will be sent to your email. It’s best to park in the school parking lot south of the complex. I will provide snacks & water for the evening. Can’t wait to see you!

WSU INTERN SEMINAR HOST SCHOOL CHECKLIST

Meet with host principal or principals:
o   Determine leadership topic(s) for your principal(s) to present to interns
o   Related to current initiatives or issues in your school or district
o   First on the agenda (approximately 5:30 - 6:20p.m. ~ 50 minutes)
o   Intern(s) may be included with principal as appropriate
o   Invite those responsible for hiring and recruiting principals
o   Invite your WSU intern supervisor
o   Leave time for questions
o   Dr. Malone will speak last “Business Items”
(approximately 6:20 – 7:00p.m. ~ 40 minutes)

Room Preparation:
o   Reserve room with adequate tables and seating
o   Check to make sure all AV equipment is functioning
o   Be sure adequate garbage cans are available.

Snacks and Drinks:
o   Provide snacks (trail mix, m&m’s, chips, etc.) when people first arrive
o   Provide cold soft drinks and water when people arrive and through dinner  (suggest small bottles of water)

Introduction of Speakers:
Be prepared to introduce speaker(s) (principal)
              Be prepared to thank speaker(s) and give any gift if available

Communicate with all interns:
o   Time/ school address/ room number
o   Any special parking instructions


NOTE:  Be sure night custodians and others who might be impacted by seminar are aware.

Intern Seminar #5

We are meeting at Walker in the library on January 12th at 5:30. I will take up around one hour of your time. I look forward to sharing with you some of our RTI work, data collection, behavior modification practices, community building, and curricular developments. Glenn will take over around 6:30 for the nuts and bolts of our internship and to check up on our progress with the Big Six, so make sure you are thinking about that!


Also, there is going to be a dinner at the Powerhouse for those of you who can make it. It is very close to Walker and really simple to find.
