ReplyDeleteSo excited to see everyone! It's been a LONG time! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Henry for showcasing the AMAZING accomplishments of Walker students and staff. E.B.Walker has a special place in my heart and it gives me great joy to see how the school continues to positively impacts lives everyday. You have an excellent student teacher as well and hopefully she can take your job when you get your first administrative gig.
ReplyDeleteAs usual the evening was incredibly helpful for our internship requirements and job-hunting strategies. Special gratitude to Dr. Malone for being the best leader in THE TIP OF THE SPEAR cohort.
Thank you for the kind words, Renee. I am so proud and lucky to have had the chance to guide Nicole and at least set her up with the right questions to wrestle as she ascends into the role of teacher. You all were a fantastic audience, as well.
DeleteHenry, Thanks for sharing all the wonderful ideas you are implementing at Walker! It has always been evident that you are passionate about your work/ I love the idea of the Community Circles, and it seems especially beneficial considering the aspiring students you serve.
ReplyDeleteIn honor of Henry I will attempt to use as many large, intelligent sounding vocabulary words as possible in this reflection. A thesaurus made this reflection possible…
ReplyDeleteHenry— fanciful job. Splendid presentation. Your zeal and fervor for the work you and your colleagues do at Walker was palpable. I fancied the data tracking system you utilized to identify and quantify kids who are at a greater risk. It takes a distinctive type of person to vocation at Walker. It was also a fastidious reminder that sprogs bring their tribulations and exertions to school with them…before they can ascertain erudition they need to feel safeguarded and venerable.
Jim,
DeleteThe simple fact that I have compelled you to write such a recondite entry in this blog is one of the things I prize most out of this entire internship, and it shall always reside in my fondest memories. Thank you!
Unlike others, I will not attempt to offer eloquent electrusion. (Check that new word out Henry.). Walker students are OUR students. I love that we have a variety of diverse systems that meet our students where they are and open doors to future success. The Walker Way was what one of our son's needed in order to be successful his senior year. Keep me posted on the ELA across the curriculum work you are doing.
ReplyDeleteHenry,
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting and sharing the work that is being done! The 'confessions' were very powerful and a true testament about how each child, each day is imperative and does make a difference. The concept of Community Circles was refreshing to see occurring at the secondary level. Allowing students to have that voice, share what's important to them, and making connections to the adult around them was inspiring! Thanks Henry!
Henry I really enjoyed how powerful the Community Circles are with you and your students. It is a great activity to use at all levels to make students feel safe and welcome and part of the learning. You speak wonderfully in front of people. Great work!!
